Selena Gomez is once again sharing her hopes of becoming a mother one day.
The Only Murders in the Building star, 34, recently shared a photo of herself with a newborn baby on her Instagram Stories. Gomez, who is married to producer Benny Blanco, added a short message below the picture expressing her wish to have a child of her own. “one day.. 🥹💭” she wrote under the photo.
The actress has spoken about motherhood before. Last October, she shared a post about her Wizards of Waverly Place character Alex Russo becoming a mother and said she hoped the same would happen to her one day.
Gomez and Blanco have also spoken about wanting to start a family together. During an appearance on the Jay Shetty Podcast in March, Gomez said she loves children and looks forward to becoming a mother when the time comes.
“I don’t know what will happen, obviously, but I love children,” Gomez said. “I love making [children] laugh; they’re just so sweet. So absolutely, when that day comes, I’m so excited for it.”
Gomez previously revealed that she cannot safely carry a child because of medical issues. In a 2024 interview with Vanity Fair, she said the news was something she “had to grieve.”
“I haven’t ever said this…but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children,” Gomez said. “I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while…”
Meanwhile, Gomez’s former boyfriend Justin Bieber is enjoying life as a father. The singer, 32, recently shared a series of photos showing quiet family moments with his wife, Hailey Bieber, and their two-year-old son, Jack Blues.
A recent photo dump shared by Justin Bieber featured a selfie with his wife, Hailey, alongside a picture of him carrying their son, Jack, while holding an iced coffee. The post also included a quiet moment between father and son on the couch and a photo referencing Bieber’s passion for golf.
The couple recently celebrated Jack’s second birthday on Aug. 22, an occasion Hailey marked on social media with photos of birthday pancakes topped with whipped cream and candles.
Gomez and Bieber’s paths have changed a lot since their relationship began more than a decade ago. Back in 2011, while they were dating, Justin spoke openly about wanting to become a young father.
“Well, by 25 or 26, I want to see myself, like, married or start looking for a family,” Bieber reportedly told Women’s Wear Daily. “I want to be a young dad. I want to be able to have done what I wanted to do – to be successful, to do a movie or whatever. But if the time is right, I definitely want to be married by 25.”
Around the same period, he also shared a photo of himself and Gomez surrounded by six children, jokingly calling them “Brangelina 2.0.”
The photo was clearly presented as a joke. Still, looking back, it is an interesting connection to their lives today, with Gomez talking about her hopes of becoming a mother and Bieber already raising a child of his own.
