KIT HARINGTON REVEALED WHY HE WENT TO REHAB AFTER GAME OF THRONES SEASON 8

You know Kit Harington from plenty of things at this point (Industry, anyone?) — but plenty of people will always know him as Jon Snow from Game of Thrones.

You might not know, however, that Kit got sober after entering a rehab facility following the premiere of Game of Thrones' eighth and final season in 2019 — and in a recent installment of Variety's Actors on Actors series with former GoT co-star Peter Dinklage, Kit got real about why he made the decision to do so.

“The first thing I did while the show was airing was go to rehab,” he said. “That was my first port of call. It was a very weird experience, Peter. Like, I decided to go to rehab as episode one was airing. And I was there for six weeks, isolated, without my phone.”

“I needed to go get sober,” he added. "I needed to get my head on straight."

Kit added that the timing of his rehab stay wasn't intentional when it came to GoT's beginning-of-the-end kickoff — but it did help him protect his mental well-being regardless.

“Actually, that was a big pull to not go to rehab was like, ‘Well, wait a minute, there's loads of press that needs to be done, you need to be front and center,'” he said.

“And it was a good decision to go, ‘Do you know what? Actually, I'm checking out. I can't do this.’”
