SHAQUILLE O'NEAL'S NETFLIX COLLAB WITH EDDIE MURPHY LEAVES FANS DROWNING IN NOSTALGIA

The '90s are back in style with the revival of Beverly Hills Cop. Which means it's the return of Shaqxel Foley. No, Eddie Murphy didn't get replaced. Shaquille O'Neal is just taking the opportunity he skipped out on while breaking backboards in the '90s. He's getting into the action in creative ways ahead of the release of Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F on Netflix on July 3. After a failed attempt to get rid of Murphy from playing the iconic role, Shaq dipped into his Big Kid persona for a new promotional clip - this time with fake merch! Netflix shared this video on all its platforms with a hilarious play on a typical toy ad. "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Faction figures are NOT available in stores. But you can watch the movie tomorrow! @Shaq not included." It's a fake toy commercial but hits the nostalgic spot for fans. Reminiscent of the '90s commercial aesthetic, two kids in need of an adventure find fun in Beverly Hills Cop action figures and cars (while real merch exists, this is not official). That was until Shaq crashed the party. "As an adult, I can appreciate the toys from a mature point of view," Shaq claimed after banishing the kids to bed. He worried about his insurance deductible when baddies shot at his fake car and scolded the kids for breaking the truck. Platinum-selling artist, DJ Diesel, even self-produced the BVC theme song the entire time.

His favorite was obviously the Axel Foley figurine which he introduced as, "I'm Shaqxel Foley. You must've not heard. They love me Beverly Hills." He must be still reeling from his audition reel released weeks ago. In another promotional video, Netflix showed Shaq's attempt to play Axel Foley. But sorry, Shaq. Eddie's got that in the bag. The Big Kid will have to imagine Shaqxel Foley with the fake figurines just like the fans.

Shaqxel Foley leaves fans wanting more

Shaq's failed audition made us miss Shaqxel Foley more. So this reminder was appreciated as a fan said, "You thought Shaqxel Foley was a one-hit wonder? Nuh uh!!! Shaqxel is BACK !" The most we got of the real Axel in this promotion was Eddie Murphy's signature laugh with the figurine. It was enough to crave Shaq and Eddie sharing the screen. Besides a straightforward appeal like, "SERIOUSLY Netflix, we need a Shaq/Eddie collab..... they are BOTH HILARIOUS," Shaq's penchant for promoting the most random things brought back the old meme of, "Nice try, Diddy."  Others just want Shaq to get back to acting for real because his comedy was spot on. Evident from the switch from "Go to bed," to "My insurance deductible." However a few cheeky fans had to remind him of his other commercial partnership. "Why is @SHAQ upset that his insurance deductible is going to be maxed out? He can just talk to The General." The commercial ends with Netflix reminding us that these action figures don't exist. '90s kids advised Netflix on the big opportunity they're letting go. "You tease us with these action figures that don't exist! We'd totally buy them!" Bonus points if Shaq promotes it for real.
