NEW SELENA GOMEZ AND ANGELINA JOLIE MOVIES, PAMELA ANDERSON'S OSCAR-BUZZED “LAST SHOWGIRL” DRAMA JOIN TIFF 2024 LINEUP

The Toronto International Film Festival also adds Amy Adams' "Nightbitch," an Elton John documentary, Ron Howard's latest film, and a Hugh Grant horror movie.

The 2024 Toronto International Film Festival lineup just got a major star power boost, as new projects from Selena Gomez, Angelina Jolie, Ben Stiller, Elton John, Ron Howard, Pamela Anderson (in her first-ever Oscar-buzzed role), and a Hugh Grant horror movie have joined the prestigious cinema event's slate.

TIFF announced Monday a large number of additions to the list of movies playing at its 2024 edition, including Emilia Pérez, Gomez's new drama with a cast that earned Cannes' esteemed Best Actress prize for ensemble performers Gomez, Zoe Saldaña, Adriana Paz, and Karla Sofía Gascón, who became the first transgender actor to receive a major accolade at the festival.

Joining Emilia Pérez at TIFF is Jolie's latest directorial project, Without Blood, which stars Salma Hayek in a "parable-like tale of family, war, and revenge," according to the only synopsis released from the mysterious movie so far.

Anderson's The Last Showgirl, director Gia Coppola's highly anticipated drama which will have its world premiere at the event, and follows the former Baywatch star as a veteran entertainer who, after 30 years on stage, must confront the next chapter of her life after her show abruptly closes.

Star Amy Adams' Nightbitch, directed by Can You Ever Forgive Me? and A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood helmer Marielle Heller is also among the TIFF roster, with a tale about a woman who believes she's turning into a dog.

Filmmaker Howard's next project additionally joins TIFF's lineup, with stars Sydney Sweeney, Ana de Armas, and Jude Law leading the director's Eden — about a band of people searching for solace from society in the Galápagos Islands — while producer-star Stiller will debut David Gordon Green's Nutcrackers at the festival as well. Grant is set to launch his new horror movie Heretic, following an attempted religious conversion at the hands of two Mormon missionaries, at TIFF.

The festival has a long history of hosting the premieres of documentaries about major famous figures, too, and the 2024 edition is no exception, with new feature-length docs chronicling the lives of John (Elton John: Never Too Late), Andrea Bocelli (Andrea Bocelli: Because I Believe), and Bruce Springsteen (Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band) all heading north for TIFF world premieres.
